Compost Kids

Overview

Third-graders at Heritage Academy were surprised by the amount of waste their school throws away each day and found that a lot of the items could be recycled or composted. They applied for an Eco-Audit Grant to create a composting system for their school that will keep 288 pounds of waste per year from going to the landfill and instead create soil for the school’s garden. The group is excited to teach each grade about the 5 R’s. You can learn about the 5 R’s, too, in their video.
